The best petite clothing brand for women - The House of Arti

The House of Arti Proportion Method

At House of Arti, we believe proportion is the foundation of exceptional clothing. Yet for generations, ready-to-wear has been developed around a single set of proportions, with petite collections often reduced to shortened versions of standard sizing. We took a different approach. A woman who stands 1.45 metres (4'9") tall may wear the same dress size as someone who is 1.59 metres (5'2.6")tall, but they do not share the same proportions. Their clothing shouldn't either.

Developed over nine years, the House of Arti Bespoke Petite System forms the foundation of every collection. Designed exclusively for women between 1.40 and 1.59 metres (4'7.1" and 5' 2.6"), it begins with the shorter silhouette rather than adapting garments conceived for a different body. Every proportion is considered from the outset, creating clothing that feels instinctively balanced because it was designed to belong there.

Our Bespoke Petite System is built across two distinct height ranges: Extra Petite (1.40-1.49m | 4' 7.1"-4'11") and Petite (1.50-1.59m | 4'11.1"-5'2.6"). Each is developed independently, recognising that height is just as important to the way a garment fits as the measurements on a size chart. This more considered approach allows every element, from shoulder placement and waist position to sleeve length and silhouette, to exist in harmony with the body it was designed for.

The philosophy behind House of Arti was shaped by founder Arti Juglal's experience studying fashion design and working within luxury couture houses in Australia. There, she experienced clothing designed around the individual, where every proportion existed for a reason, and every detail was refined with intention. Standing 1.45 metres tall herself, she believed shorter women deserved that same level of consideration, not only in couture, but in everyday dressing.

Every House of Arti garment is developed through digital pattern making, repeated sampling and months of refinement before it reaches production. Each style is tested across multiple bodies within its height range to ensure the proportions remain consistent from one size to the next. It is a slower way of making clothing, but one we believe is essential when designing with precision rather than compromise.

The House of Arti Bespoke Petite System is more than a method of sizing. It is our commitment to designing with intention, refining without compromise, and creating clothing that begins with the woman it is meant to serve. We believe the future of ready-to-wear lies not in designing for more people, but in designing with greater precision for the people a brand chooses to serve.
